To Love, Invite, prepare people to Serve and Witness for God.

Pastor louise.elmore@ngumc.net 706-735-3152 (church office)    At Tate UMC you will not encounter a “high pressure” approach. We will just tell you about who we are, what we believe, what we do, and leave the decision up to you. We encourage you to visit more than one time before you make up your mind, and that is true with any church you will visit. We suggest visiting a church at least 3 times before you mark a church off your list. In those three visits ask a lot of questions, read everything you can about the church and its beliefs. Get to know the people.  Once you narrow the choice down to one or two attend as much as you can before you make your final decision. There is no rush! Pray about your decision. If you are looking for a new church or your first church it is because God is calling you to a specific place, so prayer is an important part of your discernment process.  Our prayer for you is that you will find a church to join whether it is Tate or somewhere else. We would love to have you in our membership if we are the church to which God is calling you. More important to us, though, is that you become a member of the body of Christ wherever that may be.   Is Tate UMC a Good Choice? Tate has been a presence in this area for 130 years. But that doesn’t mean we’re stuck in the last century. It might look that way on the outside of our historic sanctuary, however on the inside you will find a diverse and alive congregation. This means you will find singles, young families with children, and teenagers, and retirees. We have ministries planned for each of these different groups. At Tate UMC we believe in the inclusiveness of the gospel, the saving power of Jesus Christ for the here and now as well as the hereafter and God’s call to transform lives and our community. Our worship times and formats are found on the Worship page of this site.  We are not formal in dress. You will find people dressed with coats and ties and more casually. The summer schedule varies.
